Lexington VINELink Release Coverage
SC VINE is South Carolina's Victim Information and Notification Everyday service. Its county contact list specifically includes Lexington County Detention Center. Participating county detention systems, SCDC, and SCDPPPS can provide adult custody or supervision data. Access is available through the direct South Carolina VINELink portal, the VINELink mobile app, or the multilingual 24-hour phone line at 1-866-727-2846. Assistance is also listed at scvine@doc.sc.gov.
The service has two related functions. Search shows the current information supplied by a participating agency. Registration sends a notice after a qualifying custody event or change. Neither function turns VINELink into a permanent release archive. A county detainee who posts bond may leave the active custody view. A state prisoner may transfer to supervision. A person may also move between agencies and require a new registration.

A current-custody record means the person is still shown in the contributing system. An out-of-custody or absent result may indicate release, but it can also reflect a transfer, excluded setting, identity mismatch, or update issue. Confirm the system and event before describing a community release.

Search One Lexington County Inmate
Open the official South Carolina VINELink portal and search for one adult. The supported identity routes are offender name or offender number. Add a middle initial and date of birth when same-name results appear. Those details reduce, but do not eliminate, a false match. Facility, agency, and identifier are just as important as the name because a Lexington County case can move from county detention to SCDC, federal custody, or another agency.
- Select South Carolina in VINELink. Stay in the official state portal or use the official mobile app or phone access.
- Enter the adult's name or offender number. Add the middle initial and date of birth when the result list contains similar names.
- Open the matching record. Compare the listed agency or facility, offender identifier, and status before relying on any event date.
- Read a transfer as movement between agencies, not release to the community. Follow the receiving agency and register again when required.
- Verify an out-of-custody result with LCSD, SCDC's release list, or the court record that applies to the case.
A current Lexington County jail roster is not a historic release search. The sheriff's public inmate listings are delayed one day, so VINELink can provide a faster parallel signal. Yet a name dropping out of either system remains incomplete proof. A bond order may authorize release while another hold delays it. A county disappearance can also mark transfer to SCDC, USMS, or ICE.

The search interface is useful for identity matching, but the contributing agency remains the source for the underlying release or transfer record.
Lexington VINELink Release Fields
VINELink presents the status supplied through the participating system. The exact record can vary by agency and event. Search by identity first, then inspect the custody status, agency or facility, offender identifier, and available event information. SC VINE says that no available custody information can indicate the offender has been released. For Lexington County, treat that as an indicator to verify, not as a certified release sheet.

The record type changes the next step. For a person who left Lexington County Detention Center, request the actual release date, release type, releasing authority, detainer, and transfer destination from LCSD when needed. Set Lexington County Release Alerts
Registration starts from the matching offender record. SC VINE accepts a telephone number, valid email address, or SMS-capable cellphone. Available notice channels include telephone, text, TTY, and email in English or Spanish. Follow the portal or account confirmation prompts and keep the contact information current. Register only after confirming the person's identity and the participating agency.
- Select the matching adult record and choose the notification option tied to that record.
- Provide a telephone number, valid email address, or cellphone that can receive SMS, then choose an available notice channel.
- For telephone notices, choose and retain the four-digit PIN. Entering it confirms receipt and stops repeat calls.
- Telephone calls repeat for up to 48 hours or until the four-digit PIN is entered. Email and SMS do not use that telephone PIN.
- Update contact details when they change. If the person transfers to another agency, register with the receiving agency as the system directs.
The PIN rule is specific. It applies to telephone registration and acknowledgment. It is not a jail PIN, offender number, release code, or password for email and SMS alerts. Missing or forgetting it can allow calls to repeat through the stated 48-hour period. Email and text notices follow their own confirmation steps and do not require that phone PIN.
For an SCDC prisoner, crime victims can also register through SCDC Victim Services at 1-800-835-0304. SCDC verifies the request and eligibility, identifies the correct offender, records protected contact information, and sends confirmation. That route is distinct from a general public VINELink search and should be used for SCDC-specific victim notice.
Lexington VINE Updates and Transfers
Lexington County has a useful local timing contrast. The SC VINE county list names Lexington County Detention Center as a participant, and the state FAQ says participating booking and offender-management systems are queried every 15 minutes. LCSD, by contrast, says its public inmate listings are delayed one day. VINE is therefore the better near-real-time parallel check, though neither source alone proves the final legal reason for the change.
A quick update can signal that something happened without explaining it. Release on bond, dismissal, sentence completion, SCDC transfer, USMS movement, or ICE custody may all remove a person from the same local view. Check the facility and event label. If an alert says transfer, follow the receiving agency rather than assuming the adult walked free.
SC VINE's FAQ requires re-registration when a county detainee transfers to SCDC or another agency. The old county registration does not automatically become a full subscription to the new agency's events. This is the distinctive Lexington notification issue: a move from the one-day-delayed county display into another participating system can occur quickly, but the person following the case must renew the notification connection.
For same-day LCSD confirmation, call the Inmate Information Center at 803-785-8230, option 2. For a lasting record, request the booking/release sheet. The sheet can identify the release time, type, authority, and transfer destination when those fields are available and public.
Confirm Lexington VINELink Release Results
SC VINE does not cover every custody setting. It does not display juveniles or people housed in mental-health facilities, and it cannot keep tracking an adult on bond as though the person were still jailed. Federal custody also requires separate tools. A BOP-sentenced prisoner belongs in the BOP locator. A federal pretrial defendant may remain under USMS control while housed at Lexington County Detention Center. An immigration transfer belongs in ICE's current-custody locator. A missing VINELink result cannot settle any of those cases.
Data can lag or change. Search with the exact identity, then compare the source most closely tied to the event. LCSD creates the county booking and release record. SCDC's current inmate search covers prisoners incarcerated in SCDC as of the prior midnight and excludes released people. Its separate Released Inmate Search documents actual state-prison departures. SCDPPPS shows prior-day community supervision. Court history can show bond, disposition, sentence, or a later order but may not give the minute of physical release.
Use a short verification chain. Confirm the person's identity and agency in VINELink. Read the status and event without adding a conclusion the record does not state. Contact the agency that held the person. Obtain the release sheet, SCDC release entry, or court order when proof is needed. If the person moved, repeat the process with the receiving system. That approach makes the Lexington County VINELink release check useful without asking it to serve as a release archive.
Note: A VINE alert is timely notice, while an agency release sheet or SCDC release entry is the more durable event record.
